Post by NewUtahCaneAngler »

Hi all,

I'm heading to Portland ME in the near future and was wondering if there any vintage fishing tackle shops that stand out if I find myself with a bit of spare time. Thanks in advance.

cheers,
Joe

Antique tackle dealers are nearly nonexistent in Maine. I know of only one, and that one is 90 minutes north of Portland. Tackle may be found at any of the various antique shops scattered throughout Maine but those get hit pretty hard by collectors from NH and Mass, hard enough that I don't ever expect to make a find in a Maine antique shop again. I watch for estate auctions but with Auctionzip people from anywhere in the world, including the same hordes from nearby states that comb the antique shops, can bid against me, so Auctionzip is a blade that cuts both ways.
