#22Sorry to hear this Gregg but I understand completely. I'd do the same. I'll miss our annual chat. Hope next year will be better.

#24Due to the new rise in Covid variants and infections in Gallatin County is the Bozeman event still on?

#25Mark, I have been thinking about that today. What do you think? We are leaning towards still doing it, but would like to hear what you think about it? I will reach out to Steve, Bill, and Gregg for their thoughts.
What does everyone else think?

#26It is an outdoor event where I assume transmission would be low. Also everyone who is a candidate for vaccination has had plenty of opportunity to do so. I'll probably be there if it is held. If you're feeling crappy, stay home.

#28Ursula and I sure intend to be there. It is outdoors, we are vaccinated, and we might like, but don't expect, a gigantic crowd.

#29Also vaccinated and plan on attending if you hold it. It would be great opportunity to meet, in person, many fellow forum members.

#30I too am vaccinated. I would enjoy the event should it be held. But that said, I support any decision the folks running the event should make. Should it be held then fine. Should it be canceled that's fine too and we'll see you next year. Each person should make the responsible choice as to whether or not to attend based on their position regarding Covid an if they are vaccinated or not. If it's held and you haven't been vaccinated then stay home. My two cents.

Re: 2021 Bozeman Bamboo Conclave
#31Hi Folks,
I have talked with the other organizers over the last several days about the event. In leu of cancelling the event with the significant rise of Covid cases, we have decided to ask that if you have not had the opportunity to get the vaccine that you refrain from attending. Masks will be optional. There will also be plenty of hand sanitizer available. I realize this approach may not sit well with some, but we would like to hold the event as safely as we can. It is either this or canceling the event. I ask that you be respectful of our decision, and if you have any questions please feel free to PM me. With the exception of this concession, the format, place, time will be the same. Thanks again for your patience.
Dan

#34Sounds like a reasonable plan. Pretty low risk event if outside and vaccinated individuals only. Thanks for the update, Dan.

#35I will be there. Really looking forward to it.
I got two Pfizer vaccines.
I will bring along a few mesh gloves with nitrile coating on the palms and front of the fingers; durable no-sweat type. (Home Depot item).
Haven't made a rod in a few years but I hope to get back to that soon.
Thanks for putting this event on!

#37May I suggest a moment of silence for those who died on 911 at the Conclave?

Re: 2021 Bozeman Bamboo Conclave
#39A good time was had by all. Doug and Dan did a great job in organizing the event. The weather could not have been better. There were a lot of beautiful rods to cast. A lot of forum members in attendance. These guys can really cast. I had nice conversations with a number of participants. Here are some photos.
Nate Stansfield and Chris Vance
My granddaughter made a cameo appearance with her mom and enjoyed casting a Norling 8'3" five weight.
I took a 7'9" five weight quad from Cris Carpenter and an 8'3" five weight by Dave Norling. Both rods were well received. What's not to like about those two guys.
I enjoyed seeing everyone.
