A REMINDER that registration for SRG 2021 is open for registration.
Tent is ordered, Caterer is hired, Cranors is ready for us. presentations are being scheduled. All we need now is YOU !
It's been a rough year and a half or so, it's time to see old friends, welcome new ones, and remember those lost during that time.
Registration is $80 (may be slightly more depending on turnout). Registration form can be found and downloaded from the SRG facebook page.

Ok, have a kind heart - I'm relatively new to this. What is SRG? I'm looking for somewhere to go to meet and to be with fly fishers with soul and patience and love 'boo. Never many around here - plus all the fishing spots are darkly overcrowded with..........

Ok, is it open to anybody or just rodmakers? I own a goodly number of blue collar rods - some fishable, some needing repair/refinish and have wanted to learn to make them. I also have a planing form and other tools - enough to make, but would love to look over someone's shoulder or have someone look over mine. About 3 decades ago, I heard about this Dr who made fly rods. I built hospitals at the time and asked all my contacts at all the hospitals here in town (Nashville) but nobody knew who I was talking about. Finally someone said he was a preacher. This was before the internet so could not just look him up - Jim Beasley. Found out he pastored a church 6 blocks from my house. Immediately called him and asked if he would be a mentor - he said sure. I said could we start tomorrow. He said it would be awhile - his wife wasn't well, and they were moving out of town. Got to doing more business traveling than I wanted and didn't get to go see him until a few years later. Needless to say, never did get to learn from him all I got to do was wiggle a few of his rods.

You’d be more than welcome at SRG. I’ll try to look up a link but googling Southern Rodmakers Gathering should take you there.

I am remiss in my duties, I am so sorry !
SRG, Southern Rodmakers Gathering is a yearly gathering of bamboo rodmakers and their spouses (optional :-).
We have a series of presentations strictly on split cane fly rods.
It is held at Cranors Lodge in Flippin, Arkansas October 21-23
From what I read in your post, SRG will be perfect for you. Information from some of the heavy weights and some less that heavy weights is yours for the asking ! New people are more than welcome and fit right in.
If you have any questions you can call or text me at 314 803 7118 or message me on Facebook if you have FB.
If you call, leave a message as I don't answer numbers that I don't know. I'll you right back.

You owe it to yourself to come out next year...

Some private instruction with Bob Nunley - from inside Cranor's Lodge :

A joy to meet Dave Bolin, far, far left, and the entire SRG :

Gorgeous view from behind cabin 7 :

Soon to be splitting my newly acquired cane :

I will be returning for sure.

We missed you Harry but hope to see you next year. It was great seeing friends again and meeting new ones. SRG is always awesome!
