External bag for rod tube?

#1

Post by Steeliedude »

When I picked up this battenkill, the aluminum tube came in this brown cloth bag. Is this something the previous owner dug up, or was it part of the original? I saw a rod on eBay with a very similar bag...so just wondering. This is a pretty ugly bag. If it’s not original I might replace it.

Thanks

Some companies provided external bags at certain times -- Hardy, for example -- but I don't recall seeing Orvis doing so. But why replace it? It will protect the somewhat fragile Orvis labe's depressed imprint of specifications.

My wife sews me up rod socks and tube covers out of fabric with a little more flair to it...flies and fish patterns.

I hold on to the originals, but use hers for daily use. Just wanted to know if I should put this brown ugly one on the shelf with the others.

thanks
