Reel for 1900's FET
#1Several months ago, I posted this in the Reels section of the forum but thought I would post here as well and see if I got other info. I have an FET 8' 3/3 4wt that was made for a sporting goods store in Boston that was in business from around 1880-1920. Stamped on the reel seat is William Reed and Sons, Boston, FE Thomas. I would like a reel that was of that era. I bought a Meisselbach 260 which fits the seat but is of course very light. I now have on it a Pflueger 1774 and I am able to cast much better with it. Need a reel with a slim foot. Thanks.

#2I have a Meisselbach 270 that is very good on Thomas seats. Try looking for a 270 or larger Meisselbach.

#3Kilgore - if you're looking for more weight in the Meisselbach's, go to the early Expert's like a 1750. Or look for a rubber sided nickle framed early Pflueger or Montague or JVH. Need images?
