Sante Fishing Banjo Giuliani Has passed .

Post by Lerouxagain »

It is with great sadness that I am passing this information onto the bamboo fly rod fishing community one in which he found so much joy and friendship . Sante was found on his lawn unresponsive this am. after enjoying a good pipe. I think this is the way he would have wanted to go out . Please help send him off to his maker with a prayer. His wishes are that there will be no funeral or services. I 'm sure many will miss his wit and knowledge as will I . Dan

"Although I can see him still -
The freckled man who goes
To a gray place on a hill
In gray Connemara clothes
At dawn to cast his flies -
It's long since I began
To call up to the eyes
This wise and simple man."

His knowledge, and the generosity with which he shared it, helped to get many people started is this sport. He will be missed on the forum and far beyond.

Pontiac787, you are absolutely correct. Finding this forum got me back into fly fishing, and into bamboo. I wish I had the chance to get to know Sante, and I know i'll miss his writings. My condolences and prayers to his family.

Wow, I'm very sorry and shocked to hear this. I was not in the know about his state of health, good or bad and I hope that those who were close friends of his, find ease as quickly as possible. I had just traded messages with him about a rod on the 13th! Like a thief in the night. I'm very sorry to hear this. Dang.

Truly this is sad news. His contributions to this forum are too many to list. How lucky we all are have been touched by him in some way.

Oh my! A loss indeed. I will miss his wit and wisdom. I suspect he had forgotten more about this hobby than I will ever know.
God speed Sante.

I’m at a loss for words, in a bit of shock. I first met Sante about 20 years ago at a gathering near State College, PA. He was one of the most generous people I’ve known - with his knowledge, tackle, time and friendship.
I will miss him, as will many here. My thoughts are with his family.
Rest In Peace, Sante.

Oh no. No, no, no. Although we never personally met, we did communicate privately outside of the forum.

A "gentleman" in every sense of the word.

I bend my knee in prayer, not only to wish him eternal peaceful rest, but also to thank him for all that he did over the years.

Deepest condolences to his family, and RIP, dear Sante.

Good Friends, Good Dogs.
Neither last as long as we want, but usually as long as we need.
Each one makes our life better for having been in it.

Rest in Peace and the Grace of God my friend.

A search for Phillipson Bamboo rod values brought me here in 2011; Sante's incredible rod model/value lists.
His posts about trying another line on a rod that just won't cast inspired my first PM exchange with him. The 'Line Lab' that has recently been assembled (and continues to grow) exists solely because of Sante's posts and PMs.
Sante handed this stranger an original Morris Kushner (and a few other rare rods) at Superboo and sent me off to cast. Wow!
He left a timeless impression on a 'bamboo beginner' as an exceptionally kind and generous man.
My condolences to his family and friends.
