Kermit, did you do the rewrapped on the Special?? Do you know when it was made?? The wrap colors make me think early 1900’s. Thanks, Jed

The FE Thomas Special rod was totally reconditioned by me at Zia~Rods. It was completley stripped down to bare bones. Ferrules, guides, threads, reel seat and grip removed. New cork grip, everything polished and refit then re wrapped in period colors and thread. Not sure on the date of mfr. You can see the rest of it here viewtopic.php?p=902915#p902915

Rupert, do they have the actual rod pictured in the book on Thomas, or are you going by the butt cap?? Thanks, Jed. Also, Kermit thanks for the info on the rod. You did a beautiful job!!

Rupert I took a look at the reconditioning process link and saw the 34 on the butt cap. Question answered. Thanks, Jed

All are so unique - and most make me ask myself, how did the maker get that look ?

I cannot stop clicking these pages... surely there is something I missed...

Here are the signature wraps on a 7’6” 4 weight rod that Don Schroeder built for me. It’s made on the Heddon Princess taper, and finished as the Heddon model 35.
