I just picked up this early rod which I assume was originally sold by the old New York retailer. Can anyone provide any catalog dating or who made the trade rods for Macy’s? Thanks.

#5NIce find, i have been looking for a bamburgers fly rod for some time. I saw a bamboo casting rod on the auction site once and never bought it. Bamburgers was bought by Macys and i manage the flagship building (it is now data centers). I wanted to find one, get it redone and hang it in my office.

#6I think it is an early Montague product assembled with Chubb fittings. The grip is not uncommon and id appear on Montague rods as shown in the link.
We also know from early Macy ads that Montague (and Varney) supplied rods to Macy.
