Polling season - Do you CURRENTLY own an Orvis
#1It has often been stated that Orvis made tens of thousands of bamboo rods and given Greg's ever growing database, I have no reason to doubt this whatsoever. Given the large volume and wide ranging tapers Orvis made, I would expect almost everyone on this board who owns more than a few bamboo rods to have a least one Orvis bamboo rod in their quiver. Do you? Please select from the poll options above.

#2My first good fly rod was a Flea, from Elsie Darbee. And, hundreds of rods later, my last one is a Midge-Nymph.

#3I don't, but have had 7/3's, Fleas, a Midge and a some sort of 4pc 8' 6 wt that came and went in the last 7 or 8 years. Oh, and a 7/4. They are probably the only bamboo rod brand that I have bought and sold so many. Not sure why? Maybe it is the feeling that they are always available, so first to go. That said, they are also fairly inexpensive, and tend to be easy to sell ( people want them), so that might be the reason. People who own them really like them.

#4Yes, and I voted above. I currently have five Orvis cane rods. I think they're great.

#5Just to be clear you are asking about owning Orivs bamboo fly rods, not just "Orvis labelled fishing rods", yes?

#6I have 3 Orvis bamboo rods- a 8' 4 3/8 oz, 8 1/2' 4 3/4 oz, and a Limeston Special 8 1/2'. They are good rods and I enjoy them. Especially considering their age, they are in amazing condition. I wish all my rods had ferrules that fit as well.

#8I’m up to six, with a logjam a 7’6” (Deluxe, 3/2, 4 oz. and Far & Fine). Others are 8’ 3/2 and 8’6” 16-10 3/2. Last one is my current favorite—so versatile.

#10I own and use two Orvis rods - an 8’ Wes Jordan and a 9’ 3/2 Salmon. They are also, by far, my best-smelling rods. I really like them both.

#12I have an inherited SSS, as yet unfished by me. Not entirely sure if it's ever been fished. Sold my "99."
Re: Polling season - Do you CURRENTLY own an Orvis
#13Another SSS, 9', awaiting a maiden voyage to the Gulf flats in late November. The Rocky Mountain is/was a favorite.

#14Thank you. I figured that was the answer, but didn't want to assume anything.

#16NOPE, gave the one I had to a kid at work. I am not a fan, although a 7/3 would be fun to have so I might in the future...
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it. T.R.

#20Yes, many, probably too many, if that's possible. I grew up near Orvis, so I've been a fan for a l-o-n-g time.
