Just two Orvii in the quiver under my sofa, 7'6, 3/2, mid 60s; and an 8', also 3/2, 1947. Looked for both for a long time, secured them and will probably keep them for a long time.

No. $3300 for a single tip rod, no way. And on their website featuring this rod one has to read the reviews to discover that it is a one tip.

My first fly rod was an Orvis Trident, but I’ve never owned an Orvis bamboo rod. It’s clear from results so far that they’re popular rods.

I think I have 6 or 7 cane rods, and about 5 "others" from Orvis. Not home right now, so quantity just educated guesstimate.

A resounding "Yes". I'm a fan.

9 bamboo, 1 glass, 2 graphite rods, not to mention a dozen or so reels.

Yes, but only one. I traded for an 8', 3/4 wt a lot of years ago and still have it. I will probably never get rid of it. I have had a number of other Orvis bamboo and graphite, but always eventually sold them off or traded them.

What’s the difference between those two 7/4’s?

The older 7/4 has blued ferrules and the trout and quail rod sack that was standard at the time vs bright NS ferrules and sage green sack on the newer one. The upsliding seats are very similar, with the newer one being a fraction longer with minor differences in the NS ring and butt cap. The newer rod has a black tube with brass cap, and the older one has a gray tube with brass cap. Other than those very minor differences, and the fact that the newer rod is unfished, while the older one has some (well-cared for) stream mojo, I can’t see any changes. They cast the same. I’m still hunting for a nice ‘70s-early ‘80s era 7/4 with cork seat and double rings like yours. I don’t really know why, but I just want one ;)

Never knew the 7/4 was made in the 90’s!
I’ve been looking on & off for a Rocky Mountain myself :)
But like many I got too many rods so it’s not high on the priority

I own two, one 7' and the other 7'6". Can't say that I use them much, but have no desire to let them go. I also owned a 4'4" Orvis Banty rod that was part of a Abercrombie and Fitch set that I sold several years ago. Bought it because it was a novelty, but never found it practical at all.

2 Rocky Mountain fly/spin rods.
A Mighty Mite.
A 9 foot 2/2 9 weight Shooting Star. This rod was my Mom’s grad present to me when graduated from Iowa State.
1 spin rod.
And a 4/1 glass fly/spin rod.

All nice rods.

Yes. 9' Shooting Star I received as payment for restoration. It needed re-wrapping. (also a graphite PM-10 909 9' 5 oz. 9 wt also received as payment for another restoration. Never used.)
