I have an 8 wt Madison in good shape, purchased from Bob Summers in the 1980s when I couldn't afford the rods he had made. I still fish the Orvis quite a lot and like the medium action.

Yes. I have had several throughout the years and currently purchased a 7/4. The rod is a perfect fit for the Driftless.

Can't fault that choice. I like mine from 1964 with a Phoenix DT6 silk on a 3 3/8" St. George for balance.

Nice collection, but the Wes Jordan rods were all 2-piece rods as were the S-S-S.

Had and sold several over the years. Most recent was a 9½' Shooting Star. Would throw a long line, but not for long. Not the rod for me for "the fish of a thousand casts."

Not surprisingly, with 125 votes in, 71% of respondents own at least 1 Orvis rod and many, myself included, own an Octet of Orvis give or take a rod or two.

Seven foot Deluxe two tips & two butts. I had a Flea, but sold it. The Deluxe can do everything the Flea could plus much more. I too love the smell when I open the tube.

Depends. Do you fish small streams or big? Big fish or small?

I like my Flea, Rocky Mountain, 8 1/2' Battenkill, one others in the appropriate setting.

Only one, a do it all, sorta, the 7 1/2' 3 7/8 oz Battenkill. A compromise sure, but a good taper which will fish well.

I mostly fish lakes, but also small and medium streams. And as much as I'd like to answer "big" for your second question, the truth is mostly small fish. Blue gills, crappies, sometimes decent largemouth bass, and occasionally brook trout.

Thanks!
Jeff
