I have a challenge for some of you younger members. How about a rod from each of the Leonard rod builders building after they left Leonard - Simroe, Kusse, Gubba, and some of the others. For $8000 you could have a heck of a collection. I would suggest picking a line weight and maybe add a pre- fire leonard to the collection

#2I just bought a Guba - Leonard 7'6" #5, should be here tomorrow. Next week, I will fish with a friend in Montana who will bring a Simroe 8 footer. I have a nice pre-fire M-66H in about excellent condition that I really like with a #6 line although Jim Reams says it fishes fine with a #5. There are some other great Leonard employees who have rods out there and I am always on the lookout.

Re: The Leonard Collection
#7So the Leonard Alumni that built rods after they left would read something like this:
Marc Aroner
Walt Carpenter
Dave Decker
Ron Kusse
Tom Maxwell
Bob Taylor
Ted Simroe
What about Mark Murphy? I seem to remember the odd rod floating around at the time with his name on it.
