Thanks Richard, as you know those original bag labels are hard to find. Most were removed or wore off over time.

Three Whitehead presentation rods engraved by Barbetti.
7'9" 2/2, 7'3" 3/2, and 7' 2/2.
Each has a matching engraved Bellinger Presentation reel.
Photos here still baffle me-sorry

Three Leonard reels, a Fairy wide, a 44 and a 50.

Image

Three little Leonards. From the top, a Catskill 35 7' 3/2, ca. 1920s, a Model 46 6' 3/2 from the late 60s, and a "Special" 5' 2/2 with a detachable grip, ca. mid 70s.

You know how people are always talking about how post-fire Leonards weren't as good? It's not really true.

Three Uslan pentas, a 7 1/2-foot, an 8-foot and an 8 1/2-foot. The 8-foot rod is quite a bit older than the other two. It bears the name of Lewis Kunkel, who was a founding member of the Harrisburg Fly Fishers Club. The 7 1/2-foot rod is also inscribed, with the name Charles L. Tutt Jr., a member of one of the pioneer families of Colorado Springs.

I recorded Lewis Kunkel's name as "Louis S. Kunkel" in the Paul H. Young Database, but it now seems as though the first name was misspelled. It wouldn't be the first time that PHY inked a client's name wrong, and late in life he apologized to one friend for misspelling "Pittsburgh" so often on the friend's many Young rods. Kunkel owned a Paul H. Young baitcasting rod dated January 1954.

Three RL Winston Penta Prototypes. 7'6" 3oz 5wt, 7'9" 3 1/8oz 5wt, and 7'3" 2 3/4oz 4wt. All made in the summer of 2005 by Glenn Brackett and Jerry Kustich. These rods were numbered with the six digit date of completion and are not recorded in the Winston production records. One other rod of this series from '04 is known to exist, Jerry took it with him when he left Winston and later sold it.

The first of the series from 2004 looks very familiar...
