No fishing yet!
#1For those of you who have never made it to Yellowstone National Park in winter all I can say then, is that you've never seen the park. My better half and I made our way down there through Gardiner, Mt. and took the tourist trip to Cook City and back. Something we do each year while "Jonesing" to see spring arrived and get on the water. Well, let's just say we didn't get on the water yet. But we did see our share of wildlife and we did get to witness the Native American hunt of the Bison that leave the park along the Yellowstone River. I'm not sure how many they harvest but there were quite a few hunters in attendance. Anyway, have a look at winter in YNP. Enjoy!

#4I've always wanted to make that trip, just never have seemed to get around to it. Those pictures are awesome! Thanks for sharing them with us.

Thanks for sharing the photos and experience. By coincidence, my wife and I are planning on taking the same trip tomorrow.

#8Cool photos. Looks cold though. As if I should talk, usually fishing the little black stones by now but tonight's low is 18 and tomorrow's high is supposed to be 35. Yeah!

#9Absolutely beautiful pics Mark. Brings a shiver to this old guy though. My days of snow that's there all winter are over.

#10What an amazing place! Thanks Mark, for the winter photos. I’m not sure if will ever have the opportunity to see the park in this season (though I sure hope to!). Short of that, it’s great to see it through your lens.

#14They look like satellite imagery to me.Hellmtflies wrote: ↑03/08/21 10:15But when were these taken? Also, I thought the air space was off limits to private flights, No? Curious.

#15I took the Pics last Thursday, Mar 4 on the way to Portland. I was cruising at FL370 or 37,000 feet. Visibility was nice and no issues flying right over the park at those altitudes. BTW I also got a picture of "Old Faithful" at work here it is but you'll have to zoom in a little. You can distinctly see the plume if you know where to look! The other pic is on the way back from Portland to Phoenix the next morning... I like taking pics when cruising!

#17Well there are two pilots in the flight deck, and Hal is on duty most of the time. One of us tells Hal where to go and the other one answers radios, really a very complex and highly tasked operation, I barely have time to pull out the camera I'm so busy up there...
