Another road trip for fishing today. Headed up North to a tributary of the Logan River with my 7'9" sweetgrass 4/5 weight. Used 5 weight JP Thebault silk to take a few what appear to be a cross between a brookie and a brown. I don't know if UT F&G stocks these or if they are naturally cross breeding...Great little water that I fished for the first time, but will be adding it to my favorites.
Cheers,
Joe
The Upper Logan is gorgeous and very fishy--nice!

Great fall day for brook trout fishing. It was also opening day for Elaborate Outdoor Lunch season, 2020-21.

Rod is a Leonard 38ACM with a St. George Jr. Lunch was chili dogs with all the fixings. That's Rupert (Headwaters) on the left.

I agree. Beautiful pix, Greg! And, I also agree that Paul has w-a-y too many nice rods.

And, checch, on the day Short Tip took his pictures, I was fishing a 6', one-piece, Green River, 4 wt. It was a very nice day, and I didn't land anything even close to a 22" brown!

Thanks, all, for sharing!

First day out in the new Antipodean season - alas it was cold and the water was too high, too fast and too murky and I scored what we might call a platinum skunk (no takes and no fish seen). Still it was good to be out. I fished a DR Stone 7' 6" two piece five weight coupled with a Duchess 5/6 reel. Dennis makes a very nice rod, seriously under-rated IMHO, and his tag, the Tapermaker, is very apt.

I agree, Dennis is seriously under-rated as a rod maker and as a restorer.

Fishing this limestone influenced creek in central PA can be very challenging when flows are low and clear. But I needed a day out on the stream with my Dennis Stone "Cascade" and fished from late morning until dusk. By late morning the sun was bright and at low flows the stream was "showing her bones". That meant seeking deeper flows, in the shade if possible.

One such run offered both and I landed a few smallish wild browns, first on an ISO parachute, then a couple on a simple Orange Cahill pattern.

By late afternoon I scouted this popular pool. Good depth, but making a presentation to the sporadically rising trout was futile.

All in all a nice day, finished off in a pool that yielded a few more small browns on an Elk Hair Caddis.

Dennis's Cascade is a great rod. Beautiful brown, and that pool looks perfect.

Took my Orvis Mitey Mite out to a local "city" creek and caught my first fish on this rod today. Had a few more hook ups and about 25 -30 trees. I guess that it beats being in single digit temps and snow. The morning started off at 41, but my Pendleton wool shirt was too much by 10:30 and the high reach 65. But, winter is on its way by next weekend.

Fishing an Orvis 9 1/2 salmon this week. Although a bit on the heavy side, no problem turning this fishy!
