Fishing with a short tip

If you had a two-tip rod and one tip was a little short but functions OK, would you fish that short tip all of the time, never, or rotate it equally with the full length tip?

Would it drive you crazy so that you would have a new tip made?

I tend to fish my short tips a lot thinking that if I have an accident, it would not be as painful as having two short tips.

Many of my rods have 1 tip full length and a short tip. If the short tip is only a little short, I fish it as is. If it is a lot short, and it's a higher end rod, I get the short tip scarfed and fish that.

To be sure I cast the rod with the full length tip and the short tip to ensure the short tip doesn't hurt my cast too much. Only 1 rod thus far had significant difference, a 7 1/2' 3/2 Cross rod. By the way my casting isn't that good.

Wednesday, brook trout, chili and tamales. We usually eat around 2pm. The usual spot, West Fork of the South Branch, near the big rock and the sycamore tree.

And yeah, I fish the short tip, usually exclusively.

Just make him paddle in the stern so you get first crack at the risers. And that way he gets to handle the net all the time, too. More for you!

A lot depends on the rod itself (collectible, higher end, etc). Then you need to think how much a scarfed tip or replacement section would reduce value.
If you're simply concerned with fishing it, do what Charles Ritz did after the infamous bicycle accident: stick a tip-top on the short section and fish the heck out of it.
I have one rod that I bought used with a busted tip. Stuck a tip top on it and it fishes just fine. The way I look at it it's now a perfect rod for experimentation if I ever wanted to make or have made an extra section.

I'm not commenting on any other connotations with respect to "short tip" in this thread.
