Fly casting videos with Nelson
#1Nelson (16mpd) just made a half a dozen short videos with casting tips on Youtube.
Very nicely done Nelson! Love the location at the Golden Gate Casting Club.
Looking forward to more video's from Nelson.
The video's are here:

Ps.
I didn't know that what I call the 'shoulder & lower arm' casting (Joan Wulff also advocates this casting style) was also known as the 'Golden Gate casting style'

#3The videos are really helpful. I especially liked the explanation and demo of the Belgian cast. The multiple camera angles made it easy to follow. Thanks for the link!

#4I've been trying to master the GGACC casting style for years. Nelson presents a really efficient and simple way to approach the cast. All the videos are short and sweet and offer some great tips.

#5The reel truth is that Nelson (16PMD) is not a real person. The whole casting series was photoshopped using a body double. The proof is that the real Nelson would never cast a plastic rod, rather one of his excellent Powell's, Howells or others.

#6Photoshop? Nah, I have seen him casting plastic rods many times. They do tend to be of the glass variety, but graphite sneaks in there sometimes, too.

#7He does indeed lower his standards to grasp the testubular cyclinder of toxic extrudings from the Dupont factory, but he’s otherwise a good dude.

#8I enjoyed watching the videos. It's clear, if you didn't know before, that Nelson can certainly cast a flyrod!

#9Nice work Nelson. The Belgian Cast - that was a favourite of Mel Krieger was it not?
Re: Fly casting videos with Nelson
#10I believe Lee Wulff used the Belgian cast variation with his short rods.

#11I met the "real" Nelson on the banks of the Henry's Fork this past summer. He was fishing a Powell.

#12Thanks for the link. Being able to watch a master of casting on "demand" is worth its weight in gold.

#13I believe that you are right Chuck but I think he called it the Oval Cast.
