#4Paul H. Young "Parabolic 17," serial #2226, built early 1957 for Lloyd Lawson of Detroit, MI. Seven-weight with the dry fly tip, eight-weight with the "wet" tip.

#5All the time. I've made a Dickerson 8015 GS that I love for streamers and bass bugging.
...as for us we pin our faith and fealty to the silk-wound PENTAGONAL rod cunningly yet simply devised of its FIVE subtle, individual triangular strips of cane throughout...

#6I fish a 9 foot hollowbuilt 7 weight made by Jim Reams for Steelhead and Smallmouth bass. It is a great rod.
Re: 7 weight Bamboo
#7I sometimes fish a Goodwin Granger "Special" grade 9053 with streamers, for me it's a spot on 7 weight.

#9I use both a PHY Texan a Para 16, and a Para 17. The first two are real gems on the White and Norfolk Rivers in AR, both with the wind and the potential to tie into 20 inch plus trout without warning. Both the Texan and the 16 are lighter in the hand than many 8ft and 8ft 6in 5 and 6 weights. Using Sylk or silk as per usual.

#10I was using a Dennis Stone 8014 on smaller carp until is blew up at the butt ferrule while I was casting it. I have a 9’ 4.75 oz Powell that I made - super aggressive hollowing and graphite ferrules - that will replace it. It’s perfect with a DT-7 silk line.
My 7 wt SF Winstons are great for summer run steelhead and big trout. Ditto for my Karstetter Canadian Canoe except I pretty much just use it on trout.
I have a 9’ 6” 5.2 oz EC Powell that most people would use a 7 wt plastic line on. With a DT-6 silk it’s my go-to Truckee dropper dry rod.
So I guess that’s a yes.

#15Yea, sure. I have an Orvis Battenkill 8'6" 4 2/4 oz. 8wt. that I fish a SA DT7F. But I only fish it for the "Run-Ups" on the Madison in the fall. Otherwise I have no other use for it. It's way too much rod for 90% of my fishing.

#17an 8015 guide, an 8015 guide special, and a 1-730 Gillum taper. all strong 7 wt. use for bass and float tubing large bows with poppers, streamers.
Re: 7 weight Bamboo
#187 weight is my "go to" out west on larger streams. My current favorite is a 9'0", 2/2, 4 3/4 oz. and a 9'4", 2/2, 4 3/4 oz., E. C. Powell. Very versatile rods. Never have to worry that much when the wind picks up, you have the "umphh" to handle big fish from a boat and/or keeping them in a pool while wading. The length is important. Not handicapped if the PMD's show up and you have to fish on top. They both can put a 18-20 foot leader out delicately enough to do the job.

#19My favorites for smaller steelhead and Atlantic salmon are 9'- 9'6" E.C. Powells - light, but powerful and tremendous casters. My favorite is a 9'6" 4 7/8! oz. C taper that he called "Light steelhead & lake" on the bag tag.
