First outing for my new rod
#1Well, the rod is not exactly new, I made it in 2018 but so far it was never used. So, last Saturday I took it to the Idrijca river and try it for a couple of hours. No fish unfortunately but nevertheless it was a nice day on the stream

#4What a beautiful rod, river, flies, and even the mushrooms, all photographs perfect. If I had that rod since 2018, it would have been out fishing with me 100's of times. Please tell us more about the rod, length, weight line that it likes, to make it sing.
Re: First outing for my new rod
#5Thank you for the kind words Rod is 7'3'', 3-piece design, rated for 3weight line. Bamboo "ferrules". It's quite fast, so it is very versatile with the different lines/weights. It works fine with 3wt, 4wt and also with 5wt. Of course the casting style has to be adjusted a bit depending on the line weight and casting distance. I fished it with the #5dt SA, most casts were from 30 to 50feet. I'm very pleased with the integrated wooden handle, it makes the rod feel "more directly".

#7Since I am a fan of Gnome rods I really like your handle. I am also like the break from tradition with the bamboo ferrules. Would love to give that rod a try someday. Thing is, as beautiful as it is I can't believe a few fish wouldn't be willing to help you break it in in that beautiful setting.

#8Wow that rod really is amazing!
...as for us we pin our faith and fealty to the silk-wound PENTAGONAL rod cunningly yet simply devised of its FIVE subtle, individual triangular strips of cane throughout...

that river looks frightening, all that calm slow clear water, fish would see you coming from a quarter mile away.. beautiful to look at, tough to fish..
