Might be too late for your SB, but if you break the surface tension between the water and the line before you pick up to cast that might save you in the future.

#22Sounds like a wonderful day. Nice to be catching so many fish you are not worried about casting, etc. I also think the rod can be repaired.
I took a new bamboo rod out today. Did not get a hit in 2 hours. So maybe I am a little jealous of your fishing ability. And I am sorry the rod broke. I have done that more times than I care to admit.
