Munsey Wheby (munsey w here on the board)
I love his rods, I have 3 made by him, all real beautys with tapers to match). There are a number of guys on here with rods made by Munsey, all have had great things to say about his rods.
The one in the pic is his "Brookie" 6' 3wt.

#685Wow, such lovely photos and settings. Many thanks.
After 55 years of brook trout fishing here in the east, it seemed time to stop fishing all day on a ration of crushed Nabs, a granola bar and some warm water. Besides that, mountain trout fishing is essentially a solitary pursuit. Stopping for an elaborate cooked lunch enables my fishing pals and me to hang out and catch up in person, even while social distancing. So here are a few sylvan scenes of fishing and overeating.
A typical pool in the Rapidan:
We fired up the discada one cold day last winter. Slow fishing, hot lunch!
Getting ready for sausage gravy over biscuits and hot fresh coffee.
It didn't last long enough for a good picture!
We still take a little time out from eating to fish:
Nature's splendor:
We are often joined by friends, that is Rupert (Headwaters) on the left.
Michael Simon (Afgantrout), Charles Jackson, moi, Ed Engle, Shane Fletcher, Andy Holmaas.
A little more fishing:
Tea break!

#686You guys are setting the bar pretty high on Shore lunches!!
Pretty water too. I'm just about 2-1/2 hrs north of the Rapidan. I need to get down there to fish and maybe a shore lunch. (blatant plug for invite )

#687You got it! We usually make a few trips to the Thurmont area each year. Keep your eyes peeled for the Blue Ridge Bamboo gathering this spring, held just a few miles from where most of these pics were taken. Munsey has been a regular, and we've consistently had a great time.

I'm about 15 minutes from Thurmont. Drop me a line on your next trip.
Thanks

#689New Stream:
I have wanted to fish this stream for a few years now. Today was a perfect New England day, sunny, 72 degrees, slight breeze. I walked this stream for about 5 hours today and found this stream littered with fish all the way through without a soul in site (as usual). Doesn’t get better then this.

#692Paul, is that photo with Michael Simon a recent one? If, yes, good to see him in fine fettle, I really miss his presence here.

#693Hi Kenneth, I had to check, the photo is from May 2019. Michael is doing well, I usually get to see him 3-4 times a year in non-pandemic conditions. I spoke to him briefly a month or so ago.

#695Photos from two outings earlier this year. Both streams are headwaters of a major watershed draining Laurel Hill Mountain in southwestern Pennsylvania.
