Tiny Water Stalkers - what to enjoy besides the Boo?
#61The most beautiful of the times we take from time always are sharpened
when we send one off to college. Looking at your photos, CR&H, drew
similar times nearer and into even clearer relief for me. Eventually the years
one has been granted require him to give back in return, sometimes too
much. But not the images, never those. Thanks for posting some of yours.
I've appreciated the posts on this thread very much. Yours summarized the
best of it for me.

#63CR&H - One of the reasons I'm hanging around on a Saturday night is because I just dropped this one at the University of Illinois - pretty quiet 'round here....
OK, enough of that..... some more small water pics...

#66Yes I made it long for that very reason, like to fish old reels and figured it,s easier to make the seat fit them than have a bunch of new feet made. I,ve got a couple of 4wt boo,s for smaller reels and a couple of graphite with long seats,a 5 and 7 wt so can use pretty much all my old reels.I ,m able to turn wood but not do metal work so my solution to the problem, and since I was wrapping rods before started on collecting reels seems cheapest and best for me. #67Absolutely the best fishing thread we've had around here in ages... thank you, gentlemen! I'm looking forward to getting out this fall to some tiny waters - if the rains will let us be long enough to once again make them tiny waters.

#68Pretty little creek in Wisconsin, prettier brookies. No pic of the Dickerson 6611 clone I was fishing, though.

#69Chick,
Very, very pretty... I have missed out on the opportunity, but from what I hear, the Driftless area sounds like a tiny waters paradise... very pretty..

#70NB- those little creeks usually run very clear and cold, and the fish fight very hard. Not bad on a little cane rod! The problem this past weekend was wind. When the effective stream width- actual width minus the amount of vegetation overhang- is darn narrow, a goodly puff of breeze can play havoc with accuracy. I find it all worthwhile, though. I had some nice chats with the cows, and the birds and flowers sure help. But it's those gorgeous brooks and browns of small waters. Wow.

#74Luckily, spent a few hours on a well pressured small stream - felt like I wanted to sample the past on this too well publicized eastern small stream - so a South Bend 290( I am sure that more than a few SB 290s have visited this stream that has worked its way through good sections of our FF writings) was at hand. Good rains this summer have this water fishable now ( a little more flow than tiny) - but I need a short 8X tippet tag to have any hopes with these well educated natives. A fine day - the Fall is showing itself here - a few falling leaves, squirrels frisky and racing about - the light gets better and better at this time of the year... one fine early Fall surprise was hiding in a small (actually quite small)pocket and made for a fine sight...

#75That is a gorgeous brown... getting into great colors in anticipation of the spawn.
I'm looking forward to fishing tomorrow, leaves are changing in Catskills and fish should be hungry.
Will shoot some photos.

#76Rob,
Thanks, and I am always amazed how their colors begin to dazzle as early Fall prepares to shine - here the light, sky, days, and trees are turning golden like no other time of the year. (And rain is in the forecast!!!)
Rob, another mid-week romp in the catskills? I congratulate you on living right - very, very right...

#77Fall is peeking around the corner - I was struck by the need for a long sleeved shirt (Nice for achange, I guess). Day sparkled - water sorta low and gin clear - today, I needed to work close as there was no chance for these old reflexes unless the action was there to see. Remarkable, every native to be viewed came out of a hidy hole and either cooperated or not (most likely). RX was an 8x tippet end, light modern maker cane, either a wet ant or wet beetle - they laughed at my dry offerings (saw a few tail swipes in derision, playful derision I must say)...
A beautiful sight on native tiny waters - newer life...

#79gearboy, appreciate the kind thoughts. Yet just fun as all of us share how really special those tiny waters really are - too much fun...
