Scribner Salmon Rod, strip or not

#1

Post by jarylu »

Hello, I've acquired a Dingee Scribner salmon rod with its holder and all the pieces.
What puzzles me is the finish. All the Scribners I have been able to look at are all wooden and finished with
the natural wood showing through. This one though, has a mohogany finish which is beginning to show its age, chipping etc.
My question is, is this a proper finish for the rod? Or, has someone decided it would look better with the dark finish. And,
would those who know more about this stuff than I do handle it differently. Thank you in advance.

Check your Personal Messages. You asked for guides in your Classified post but left no contact information.
Also, you didn't say how many you need, nor what sizes.
