I am surprised there are so few new posts here. I have used my covid stay at home time to make a few rods. Here is one I’m just finishing. It’s a Driggs taper adjusted to a 3 pc .

Thanks for sharing kentuckyjim. What taper did you use? Have you cast it yet? what does it weigh and what line loads it best for you?

I have been collecting tapers as long as I’ve been building rods. I have four Driggs tapers . Three are 2 piece and one is this 3 piece. I had built the two piece tapers and decided it was time to try the 3 piece. The taper was from one of the online lists. I tried a 3 and 4 wt sylk and liked both depending on long or short casts. I really haven’t had much time cast it because of cold rainy weather. I did weigh it and the rod was 3 oz

I am guessing that is the Danny Twang taper from the Rodmaker's tapers on Hexrod. I've always been curious about that taper.

I’m not sure of the taper source. I sure wish I did know so I could give
Proper credit. I have used my covid
Isolation to make a good number of rods from less well known tapers and a couple of totally unknown sources. It’s been fun and I imagine I will still have them in Townsend ,whenever.

I finished off my first birch bark handle. I'm not sure if I'll enjoy casting with it but I sure do like the look.

Nicely done. I"ve never made one, but may have to give it a try. I've got access to an endless supply of bark, so I just need to take the time to put it all together.

Another one from the creative minds at Zia~Rods. This Southwest theme rod was commissioned for an Albuquerque Doctor.

That is a stunning rod Kermit. I like the turquoise wraps with the red.
...as for us we pin our faith and fealty to the silk-wound PENTAGONAL rod cunningly yet simply devised of its FIVE subtle, individual triangular strips of cane throughout...

Just placed the finishing touches on a blank built by Tapermaker. A hollow built Granger taper 8 1/2’ 3/2 . First time trying Gorilla Glue instead of varnish - pretty easy. Like clear wraps so used natural silk with a single strand of red for a little bit of contrast. Will let it dry for a few days, polish, and take fishing later in the week.

Tons of respect for those of you that can take a culm of bamboo and transform it into a split cane fishing tool.
