Looking for information on NYSG Company of New York.

A customer brought me an old bamboo bait casting rod with the stamp of NYSG CO NY in the reel seat. Looking for company info and approx. manufacturing date. Appears to be from around 1880-1910 period. Bamboo still has the enamel on it.

My guess would be the New York Sporting Goods Co. Photos would help if you want a build date, otherwise it's just guesswork. NYSG Co. offered a line of very early golf clubs from the 1920's. I'm sure they sold many different lines of sporting goods, as well.

Not sure when they started but I have a 1916/17 catalog that is very complete (they advertised as the most complete sporting goods house in America and were located and 15 and 17 Warren St, NYC). They listed Heddon rods but most are theirs. For guns they carried Parker, Fox, Smith, Ithaca, Winchester,Remington, Harrington & Richardson, etc so if they sourced as broadly for rods it could have been built by any of the exiting wholesale manufacturers of the time.
