a neat one pc. w/ a good story

A few yrs ago ,i got a call from a young man that owned a shop in Sisters Or. He told me he needed a blank made on a 1pc .rod 6ft long for a 2/3 wt . He said that his grandfather ( a promenent attorney) owned one made for him by Doug Merrick , owner of winston rod co. at the time .Apparently ,Doug made the rod for him in appreciation for getting him off for a speeding ticket he got while fishing together for Steelhead on the north Umpqua river in 1960. the original came to me with a ferrule , apparently his grandfather had fallen on it ,breaking it at 1/3 up the rod. the ferrule kept the rod useful. the one pc rod was a special order only made once. heres the original #`s 0- .068, 05- .076, 10- ..085 , 15- .104 , 20- .125 ,25- .146, 30- .151, 35- .160, 40- .180 , 45- .192, 50- .197 , 55-. 203 , 60-, .205 , 65- . 222, 70- 222 , 72- .222
