Spinning rod tapers

The exchange of tapers forum is for classic and personally developed tapers. The definition of classic tapers are those tapers that were developed by rodmakers that are no longer alive. Please understand that rod makers who have developed their tapers, and are active in the community, should not have their tapers cloned, or shared, without their permission, please refrain for asking for those tapers as it infringes on the maker.

Spinning rod tapers

Spinning rod tapers

Since the subject comes up every now and then, I thought I would a post a list of published tapers that I had compiled from different books and online resources.
I can’t speak about any of the attributes of each having never built one. If I were to build a spinning rod it would probably be a fairly generic straight line taper.
Most can be found in Hexrods’, David Rays’ Taper Library or Ray Goulds, “Tips & Tapers”
There would probably be more information concerning each contained within their original format.

Thanks for collecting and (re)posting those. I did the "Fairly heavy rod for river smallmouth fishing" rod a few years ago from another past post. It ended up powerful indeed. I ended up making it into a bait caster as it likes 5/8 oz+ plugs. I can cast a 190 whopper plopper with it!
