Payne 79 taper
#1Hi, I bought a Payne taper 79 a while back and have been playing around with different line & reel combinations to find it's sweet spot for my self taught casting style. To my surprise a WF7 on a 3 1/4" Saracione seems to be the optimum combination of stuff I have. With a 6 wt the rod does not begin to really load until 40+ feet of line are out. Would love to try a TT7. Anyway, is this the usual performance of this taper?

#2The reprint of the 1975 Payne catalog lists two 7'9" Payne parabolics, a regular model for 4 or 5 wt, and a heavier model fo 6 or 7 wt.
