Dickerson RB Special

The exchange of tapers forum is for classic and personally developed tapers. The definition of classic tapers are those tapers that were developed by rodmakers that are no longer alive. Please understand that rod makers who have developed their tapers, and are active in the community, should not have their tapers cloned, or shared, without their permission, please refrain for asking for those tapers as it infringes on the maker.

Looking for the Dickerson 8013 Ray Bergman Special. And how does it differ from the 8013 1949 from Howells book?

Regards Morten.

Gould's book lists a Dickerson 8013 taper. Schwiebert's book, Trout, says that Dickerson built it to match the action of Bergman's favorite 7-1/2' Leonard, a fast, tournament-style action.

What are the connection from Schwiebert's Leonard, to the rods Ray Bergman ordered by Dickerson?

According to Schwiebert, as recounted in his book, Trout, Ray Bergman really assisted in the publicizing of Dickerson and his reputation for quality. And, on a trip to Michigan, Bergman met Dickerson and apparently told him that his favorite rod was a 7.5', fast-action, tournament-style Leonard rod. So, Bergman offered to build a rod for Bergman to match that action in what I took that to mean is the 8' (8013) rod for HDH lines.
