3 piece, 4wt
#1Hi, I’ve been making 2 piece rods for the last few years and THINK I’m ready to try a 3 piece one. Any taper recommendations on a good 3 piece, 4wt dry fly rod? Thanks!

#2Cattanach has a 3 piece 7'3" 4 weight that I made many years ago. I liked that rod a lot, very nice to cast.

#5There is a 7'0", 3/2, H. S. Gillum taper that produces a real nice casting 4/5 weight rod. From 0-25 feet or so a five works nice, then the transitional area where either works, after which at about 40 feet it really sings with a 4. A quicker action than either the Leonard or Payne mentioned.

#6many of my customers swear by the Steve Kiley 7ft 3/2 3/4 wt granger. his taper is fashioned after the 7633 5wt .he managed to make a shorter lighter rod seem the same .
