Rod tip ID.

This is the board to ask about the identity, or for an appraisal, of a rod. Please use the outline as explained on the board. If there is a makers name, list that in the subject line. Make sure you include the length, number of sections, any identifying markings and the general condition. Adding photographs is always helpful!

Rod tip ID.

#1

Post by lepirate »

Hi all, I hope your year is going well so far. I have acquired 2 rod rod tips that came in the bamboo handle of a landing net. They seem quite nice and wonder if anyone can help me with make (Hardy? ) and possible age from some pictures of ferrule and tiptop which is a little unusual maybe. They are the same but not identical, some slight differences on placing of a couple of rings and in precise spacing of intermediate wraps. Length, 53 inches, weight 25.5 grams (.91oz) each and .2inch just before the ferrule. The tip is wire wound and has an insert, not sure of metal, wire looks copper color. Also, can anyone suggest a bottom section I could look out for to use to make a whole rod, maybe something hollow built and about 44-46 inches ish. The tips seem to have the same feel when bending as a 4/5 wt. Any suggestions gratefully received.
Dave.
