Heddon #10 Blue Waters

This is the board to ask about the identity, or for an appraisal, of a rod. Please use the outline as explained on the board. If there is a makers name, list that in the subject line. Make sure you include the length, number of sections, any identifying markings and the general condition. Adding photographs is always helpful!

Appraisal........ best guess etc.
A Heddon #10  8'  3/2  #4 line, original bag and tube. Condition is excellent, no issues.
It may have been fished but not much if any.  A late model of this edition. Everything as it should be.

I have had this rod for 12-15 years and have not fished it........ So will be selling it to a local admirer. (Of the rod, not me).
Just trying to be fair to us both as to a selling price.

Thanks
Peter

Peter,

Great rod. When you say 4 weight are you saying 1.5 ferrule or 1.75 ferrule. I think in this model you need to be specific to get an acurrate price. If it is a 1.5 F people will be excited. If it is a 1.75 people will say it is a Model #10. I prefer the 1.75 F but I also do not like light rods.

Would love to see pictures. I am a big fan of Heddon rods and love the Model #10.

I own a Heddon #10 8'-0" , 1-1/2 F that I paid $225 for several years ago.  Doubt I'd let it go for twice that.  Love that rod.

The ferrule size is the 1 1/2.
I have'nt figured out how to transfer images from my camera in to my posts.
The reason for selling is I have a few other 8' #4 weights, and need to cull the herd a little.
Thanks for the interest and help in this.

A Model 10 8' built on the 1 1/2F ferrule in excellent original original condition with
proper bag and tube should bring circa $500.00, in my opinion.

It's a wonderful light line 8' taper.

The 8' 1 1/2F Heddon is one of fishings greatest tapers in my opinion... however, the #10 grade with it's paucity of guides and price point construction to me, is a $325 - $400 (tops) rod in excellent++ condition. The taper is there but the value isn't. My .02.

Dylan

Peter,

To post pictures, follow this link:

http://photobucket.com/

Open an account (it's free) and save your pictures.  Then use the photobucket icon on this Forum to put your pictures in a post.

At this point, the pictures will only confirm your assessment of the rod's condition, but it would still be nice to see them!

As you can see there is disagreement on the rod's value.  I agree that $500.00 is too much for a Post Classic Era 8' Model #10 with 1 and 1/2F.  At least it's more than I would be willing to pay.  It is near the bottom (as to quality) in the Heddon line up.  I'll throw in my opinion: $400.00 maybe $425.00.

Thanks- Ken

I'm probably somewhat under on a low estimate based on an excellent condition rod. $400 is probably closer to the price level on a day in day out basis. But, North Country Brookie found one in the last few years at $225 and I've seen a few around here (MI) in decent shape in the $250 - $275 range. I didn't buy them as I wasn't interested. Perhaps I should be...

Best - Mike
