So, Orvis to drop Battenkill !
#1Orvis will be outsourcing their bamboo production to south Korea...
same plant but with different tooling that Hardy and Douglas use..
all the rods will be manufactured with robotics run on solar power
and therefore be carbon neutral. the rods will be radically hollowed out and impregnated with graphene
using nano technology. The tapers will be designed by AI (artificial intelligence) using a composite of all
past bamboo and graphite tapers. The rods will be 9 foot with a proprietary boron reinforced bamboo sleeve ferrule.
they will weigh 34% less than past models and available in 4 piece travel models.
Orvis hired a marketing company that found 98% of all millennials do not know "kill" is a dutch term for stream or creek and actually
subconsciously triggers threatening connotations for them and thus the name "Battenkill" has been dropped in favor of HeliosB2Biii and will
look exactly like the older model Battenkills sans the nickel silver ferrules but will have the large white Helios label above the foregrip.

#2sorry my first post had to be an April fools joke but I have been lurking here for a while.
started fly fishing the Esopus with a wonderrod in the mid to late 60's.....I drooled over the Orvis catalogs for years but could never afford
a bamboo rod. now that I can afford them I am addicted to fast graphite rods having lived on the florida coast for 30 years and fishing for tarpon, jacks, reds etc.
but I moved to Colorado and I know a bamboo rod is in my future

#7its really just a joke! I do not take myself so seriously....I have even been known to put a spinning reel on my fly rod and bottom bounce worms...jim royston wrote:So trite, so self righteous.

#11yes, but I have been lurking here for a while.... as a teen in the 60's I would take the subway from the Bronx to the most expensive fly shops in Manhattan and handle all their bamboo rods as the staff would watch me like a hawk,,,and then go back home to my 8 ft wonderrod...I would hitchhike up to the Beaverkill and Esopus.....I used to look at the Orvis catalog that came out yearly and dream of owning one some day.Webfly wrote:That was your first post to this forum???
But then I moved to Florida and big game fish and graphite rocket launchers were the name of the game....
Now I live in Colorado and its back to my roots....
