#23This post is simply wonderful. Such a variety of goodies. Goes to show how many here have wonderful lusts and loves in their hobbies. It's such a relief to see such passion.
It makes me feel so relieved at my paltry collection of various wood stuffs that I keep getting jazzed about from my family... I have little to compare but I keep getting accused of taking over the house. Hardly...HA!!
This is awesome to see, ALL of it...
Jeremy.

#24I collect ash framed/rawhide laced snowshoes and sporting (fly fishing and grouse/woodcock hunting) literature.
It's a sickness that I'm afraid it going to spread to bamboo fly rods.

Re: What else do you collect?
#26I never set out to collect any of these, I just really enjoy fixing up older well made older things, giving them a new life, and using them again for their intended purpose. I do my best to make sure they don't collect dust, they get used or re-homed.
steel road bikes, mtb, cyclocross, tandem...
film cameras
Gerstner tool chests
fountain pens (Parker, Pelikan and MB)
mechanical watches
telescopes (mostly classic)
and of course rods, reels and rod making tools...

#27I like to collect old shotgun shells, there are some pretty cool ones out there.
I also like to collect old lures
I admit it, I am a collector of shotguns and single shot rifles
I love fly rods hence my collection

#28In 2021 I will shoot for more CFO's and less scars.

#29I'm not a great accumulator of stuff, and don't actually have "collections", although over the years I've picked up a few pre-1970 watches especially WWII ones, pocket knives, pre-1950 saxophones, etc.
Still, some things are well-nigh irresistible.
Like Tim, I love rocks, specifically those that have been worked on, and have actively hunted these down whenever and wherever I can. It's really satisfying when you spot them, pick them or dig them out, clean them off, and dream of the history behind them. BTW, some of you have seen these photos before.
Wishing you all a Happy and Safe 2021,
Kenneth

#30Ok, I’ll bite. Besides vintage Orvis fly rods, reels, paper and flies...and vintage tournament distance casting reels...I collect:
Industrial employee badges. Here are a few from Pittsburgh area steel mills 1930-1970:

Fishing badges 1935-1940 from my home state of WV:
Vintage miniature pen knives, especially those given to Scouts in the 1930s and mini mother of pearl knives:
Vintage silk fly line in retailer packaging:
Vintage snelled hook retailer triangle packs:

#33My team took a Datsun 510 sporting STP colors ( the same colors as Richard Petty's car) to second place at the SCCA run-offs at Road Atlanta many moons ago. B Sedan class.

#34Nice, I have raced one of those too in vintage and have a project BS 510 in the barn. A couple of my friends raced them in the day at the Runoffs too. My Roadster was Sharp's car.

#35Actually I don't collect anything. When we built the Western Command (Wyoming house) I specified that I did not want a lot of storage space. The problem with storage space is that my pack rat wife fills it up. So far, so good. I'm in the process of performing a divestiture of stuff that sees no use.

easy to collect and display, doesn't take up a lot of room, no need to polish, and it can be moved and stored easily. You don't need fancy display cases or racks. Low cost.

Re: What else do you collect?
#40Antique bicycles. 1880's High Wheels and wood rim safety bicycles of the 1890 to early 1900's plus all the associated memorabilia. Sold 15 bicycles this year to start giving younger more exuberant riders a chance to break their necks. Took the money and bought reels. Still kept my "pets", but now I've got a pretty good balance in my "stuff." Still kicking myself for selling my 1967 Impala Super Sport Convertible last year though. Thinking a mid-teens brass car might be in my future instead.
