What else do you collect?

or however that dang word is written! : ) Use this forum to discuss those things that are related to, directly, or indirectly, fly fishing, i.e., tackle, catalogs, single malt scotch, cigar preferences, pipes, camera gear, etc. This is sort of an off topic area but one related to bamboo and fly fishing.

I also collect single burner campstoves, along with a few vintage Coleman suitcases. We like hot fishing lunches. Here's a sample:

Short Tip and adkfan- great collections. I’ve always loved vintage canoes, but now I’ll keep an eye out for old camp stoves, as well.

Thanks for posting.

I collect or have at one time or another collected all sorts of things. I remember collecting marbles as a kid. Seems when I get into something, I have to either have several of one thing or different types of the same thing. Whether it be rods, reels, bows, guns, books, lanterns, knives, etc. I have these Stanley 9 1/2's on the self, and a few more in a box.

kermit - not sure why, but I have a clear marble in my pocket I found about 3 years ago. I will hand it to you someday.

1949 Bowman Baseball Cards
Missing plenty... but I have over 200,
Mainly common cards - but even those are $40 each.
Several star cards in this collection that Dad started... and I will try to finish.

NoName on Front / Name On Front is in the collection. Robin Roberts, Stan Musial, Duke Snider and Roy Campanella.
By far my favorite is Willie 'Puddin Head' Jones.

Question - Do you have any random 1949 Bowman baseball... lets start hooking up stuff with stuff.
If you are positive you are holding some 1949 Bowman baseball cards, shoot me your PM please.

You either like cane fly rods - or you don't.

Hardy Accessories and those of other makers are fascinating to examine and compliment any angling collection. Dean has a very nice ensemble, as do others shown here.
This is a particular rarity, a Hardy 1890 era brass and Ebony salmon priest from the Mar Lodge estate on the Royal Dee. The battered brass head of this priest offered last rites to many salmon over the years during the classic period of Scottish salmon fishing

Books, books, books.

Old electronics, Heathkit, Knightkit, Eico, etc.

Fly reels of a certain class.

I used to collect red haired Winnebago, but I found the real keeper in 1963, and quit looking.

Wow, so many neat things that people collect. Although I am not surprised with this group. I also collect a number of things in addition to classic fly fishing equipment. I enjoy spinning rods as well and have many, in addition to a large number of spinning reels and various spinning lures. I have a collection of muskie fishing lures that has grown over the years, although buck tails in black are my favorite. I also collect small boats and canoes. But none as nice as the wood canvas canoes displayed above. In addition to the canoes I collect canoe paddles and have some very nice ones, several from Canada that are no longer made. My favorite is a solid ash Nashwaak paddle in the shape of an otter tail. You can feel it flex while paddling. I also collect a variety of knives both fixed blade and folders - with a focus on folders the past several years/Users/jerryg/Pictures/Photos Library.photoslibrary/resources/derivatives/2/2FD2BA83-4045-4D94-B62B-50E15C6BF3B5_1_105_c.jpeg My favorite is a CRK night sky.

For the middle decades of my life I was more of a musical instrument maker than a split cane rod maker. I have recently sold a few musical instruments to buy fly rods but I still have a collection of old flutes. Here is a nineteenth century, six key, flute made by Clair Godfroy aîné in Paris in the mid nineteenth century.

Hiram Leonard, of course, was also a flute player and flute maker.

I collect old books on fly fishing, and knives. I've always had a thing about knives since I was a little kid back in the 1960's. Back then we could carry them to school and if I had a male teacher he wanted to see what I had so we'd compare. That started around 3rd grade I think.

Old Nikon cameras is also a mini collection of mine. I've always been a photo buff too.

Vintage cars
Vintage race cars share much in common with bamboo rods from the golden era.
