1977 denim fly fishing vest

or however that dang word is written! : ) Use this forum to discuss those things that are related to, directly, or indirectly, fly fishing, i.e., tackle, catalogs, single malt scotch, cigar preferences, pipes, camera gear, etc. This is sort of an off topic area but one related to bamboo and fly fishing.

It wasn't one of those but I wore a denim vest for steelhead fishing up north for years. It was distinctive and definitely one of the only ones on the river when I was out.

I once owned a J. W. Weir and Son's rod that came with a blue denim rod bag. I think it was built around 1978. Paired with the vest and a blue denim cap you would have been the best coordinated fly fisherman on the river. Far out!

Yeah, too bad the AMC Eagle 4WD didn't come in a Levi's edition, but I don't think they overlapped. A member at our fishing camp had one in the early 80's, not much of a car but what a concept!

Back in the ‘70s, I made a fishing vest out of brown denim that was more or less a copy of the original Orvis Tac-L-Pak. I made it on my then-mother-in-law’s sewing machine. It’s long gone now, but it served me well for many years.

I'd jump right in the Gremlin with her! I remember the Levi's Editions as I worked at an AMC dealer for my first summer job and my Dad and I hung out there to check out the cars. Dodge musclecars and AMC's. I learned to drive in Dad's Lime Green AMC Javelin!

Hilarious!

My better half's first car was a Gremlin. She said it had 3 speeds including reverse.

Gosh a Javelin....I haven't even thought about one of those in years! I was a decade too late to have fun in the 70's, an eternal bummer for me....

The AMC Eagle was ahead of its time: the Seventies weren't ready for Suburus.

They had some pretty styling interiors, too:
