Lost Livingstone, MT- Battenkill Reel

or however that dang word is written! : ) Use this forum to discuss those things that are related to, directly, or indirectly, fly fishing, i.e., tackle, catalogs, single malt scotch, cigar preferences, pipes, camera gear, etc. This is sort of an off topic area but one related to bamboo and fly fishing.

Lost Livingstone, MT- Battenkill Reel

#1

Post by Pwknauth »

This is a long shot
Lost in Livingstone, MT., a Battenkill reel, click and pawl 5/6 (made in England). The reel had 5wt Cortland 444 DT peach fly line. The reel is sentimental and was a perfect complement to my Orvis Battenkill 7.5 ft bamboo rod.
Please PM if found. Thank you

That sucks. Hope you find it!
I spent most of my money on shotguns, fly rods, guitars and banjos. The rest I just wasted. (Apologies to W.C. Fields)

Hey Pwknauth,

I'm in Livingston - any idea where you may have lost it?

Good news!
A person found it in the parking lot and turned it in the manager at Yellowstone Pioneer Lodge in Livingstone.
The manager will ship it to me tomorrow.
Thank you everyone for looking

Glad you're getting the reel back!

Engrave your phone number on the bottom of the reel foot. I use an engraver I got 30 years ago. One of those hand-held models that makes a helluva racket when I turn it on. If you don't want to do that. Clean it with alcohol then use a silver Sharpie and put clear nail polish over it.

Good idea!
The reel was in a case. I am looking for small luggage tags or "small dog tags" I can fasten to the case with my contact info.

Man, it's like a fairy tale. I have a soft spot of those old English Battenkills. I'm a peach man, myself.
