Come on, guys! We certainly have a bunch of comedians in here this morning!
Headwaters, you are correct. It is the Babe, and he is getting ready to "call his shot" as to where he will put that fly.
Honestly, Tonkin67, I do think he is indeed hung up in a tree!

I wonder if he was drunk.

Any idea where the picture was taken?

Babe Ruth Fly Fishing At Jacksonburg Creek. (Blairstown, New Jersey Pt.2 - c.1930’s).
Legend has it, Babe did like to partake of liquor.

Wasn't that during the prohibition years?

Almost looks like famed Canadian artist (Group of Seven) Tom Thompson in the background…except he passed away in 1917...

Oh yeah, he would have probably given up drink during that period, along with all the other rich and famous folks. :rollin
Malcom, you are correct, there is a very strong resemblance there. That location and time frame was cited along with the photo. I have no idea as to it's accuracy.

One of his rods is (or was) on display at the American Museum of Fly Fishing in Manchester, Vt.

Looking at the photo, I find myself trying to imagine what these two men must have been thinking at the time. Having been in both situations, I know what I was thinking each time...

Yes, the AMFF once had a photo of Babe's rod on its Website, too. The Site has since been updated (with a fair number of great tackle photos).
