TWO LAKES - Table Rock Lake above and Lake Taneycomo below : Tuesday Dec 1st 2020
Look close at the top of the picture for the aux spillway dam...

Image

Below is the 3rd DAM in the Ozark chain... Powersite Dam (completed in 1913) at the end of the 23 mile trout water
below Table Rock Lake (Lake Taneycomo).
The river below Table Rock Lake is a lake because it is dammed at both ends.
This is the headwaters of Bull Shoals Lake in Missouri...you can catch anything in that spot right there, called The Pothole.

Funny that guy was fishing the other day when I went to renew my Drivers License.
This area can produce trout over 40lbs!

It is nice to have choices...

The water here is very flat - hatches midges every day of the year - and never closes.

Auxiliary Spillway from front and back - that is a hotel, Chateau on the Lake in the distance.

Cross the Dam from Branson itself, to the other side, the water reveals a whole new drift. (for Left handed anglers)

Super interesting, thank you. 40# trout. What tackle? Trolling. Also, I see you drive a proper fishing vehicle {mine 2014 Magma}.

{Just noticed my number of posts! :P Thought the folk that run this board would have dumped me by now. Also, "got out" the map. Not familiar with that neck of the woods.}

That spot called the Pothole has every fish that swims in the Ozarks in it --- a real anything goes kinda place. Rough and tumble... fish with teeth.

This area is well below the Shep Hill Boat Ramp. Lower parking lot - trails lead to stairs. Excellent soft hackle water.
The sky was perfect Monday :

Those stairs are not easy... be prepared.

Image

Image

Sweet little creek off to the left... pretty secret stuff here... just at the right water level...

Image

Thanks for all the support here... getting back into fishing shape after surgeries is super tough, and my camera satisfies my fishing urges.

Brian I have stayed at Chateau on the lake for work conference (pictured in one of your photos) and never realized how close I was to some great fishing. Maybe next time.

Well my son and his wife have (presumably) moved closer to this spot from Osage Beach to Lebanon, so it's good to know that MO fishing might be closer to a reality for me as I will be visiting frequently! This really has been a great thread.

I have tried to make lemonade out of what are my available lemons...

What I do not show are the countless days the river flows at 15,000 cubic feet per second.
Weeks turn into months.

If the water is low - It's time to go. Day OR night - viewtopic.php?t=141403

Curious stuff happens in the dark out here. Check link above.

Shephard of the Hills Hatchery Visitor Center Closing on 3/12/23
CLOSING FOR TWO YEARS - to rebuild the new building
Just the visitors center - not the whole hatchery.

Spent the whole Summer of 2001 there telling folks how to hold a trout.
