#21There really are many talented people in this group and I appreciate their sharing with other, less talented people - like me.

#23These are both great John!
I really like the second one.
Nicely done.
Nice frames too!

#24Thanks Matt I was pleased with the way the paintings turned out. I build the frames myself out of poplar and then just paint them. I have gone from using canvases to using thin MDF which I buy and then cut down to the size I want to paint. I then prime them on all sides and edges with gesso and sand smooth. Provides a much smoother surface to paint on.
I have been doing some more colored pencil sketches of flies, did the last batch for a fellow angler who requested some sketches of flies. That was fun as he had some flies that I would normally not have chosen to sketch so it tested my sketching ability.

#26Nicely done John!
love the detail work on the scales.
Here's a riverscape I did a couple of weeks ago. I was going for a more of abstract look. Trying to force myself to loosen up my brush strokes.

#27Thanks yes the scales are my least favorite part as they can be quite tedious. I need to try the same as you on some of my landscapes, a little looser and not so detailed. Your landscape turned out well.
