Thanks Matt I was pleased with the way the paintings turned out. I build the frames myself out of poplar and then just paint them. I have gone from using canvases to using thin MDF which I buy and then cut down to the size I want to paint. I then prime them on all sides and edges with gesso and sand smooth. Provides a much smoother surface to paint on.
I have been doing some more colored pencil sketches of flies, did the last batch for a fellow angler who requested some sketches of flies. That was fun as he had some flies that I would normally not have chosen to sketch so it tested my sketching ability.
Did another colored pencil sketch of an Atlantic Salmon, after I purchased a larger set of pencils. It has been fun trying out the colored pencil. I’m not sure if I’m going to leave it as it is or sketch in some background color. It turned out pretty good or at least I’m pleased with it.
Thanks yes the scales are my least favorite part as they can be quite tedious. I need to try the same as you on some of my landscapes, a little looser and not so detailed. Your landscape turned out well.
A few more riverscapes from reference photos of a pre-covid fishing trip to the Adirondacks. Can't wait to go back.
Happy New Year Everyone!
Cheers!!
