Featherwing Frame

Tried out a new (to me) method of attaching flies to a framing. On the fence whether I like it better than my usual "bead" method. It sure is more labor intensive than the beads! I do really like tying featherwing flies. Took awhile to beat down the bronze mallard monster, but I think I've got it.

Gary - That is fantastic! I'm not a fan of that type of fly mount. Though it's not the case here, if the hooks are special, antique or hand made it hides the details of the hook gutter, barb etc. Despite my opinion of those plexi posts, your fly framing is on par with the best! Mallard is fun! Keep it coming.

Totally agree, Royce, about using the pegs with antique or hand made hooks! Really on the fence about using the posts instead of the beads. I am on the hunt for a better, thinner, longer bead, though. Have a friend from high school (that was more than 50 years ago!) that's into beading as a craft and is helping me on the hunt.

GARY,

Check out a crafting supply store like Joann's fabric and look into the bead area...

Very nice, what size hooks did you use?
