I did one last fish sketch this is an Arctic Char, think I’m done with these for awhile. This one was pretty tedious with the scales.

What paper do you use for your fish and other colored drawings? Which works well for the Faber Castell Polychrome, since I have these colored pencils?
Thank you

I use Strathmore Bristol 300 series, I prefer the smooth surface paper. I started with watercolor paper but did not like the rough texture so migrated to the smooth paper. Good luck have fun.

Do you first do the drawing in pencil and then use colors?
What are the steps to get the final outcome? Thank you.

I usually do a rough sketch or outline of the fish with pencil just to get the right shape and proportions. I then use the color pencils for everything else from there out. The scales are very tedious and is often the part that I do not find very fun or enjoyable so I try to work on that in manageable periods of time rather than hours on end.

Such a gift it is for artists to be able to convey an image in their minds eye to paper or canvas. My admiration for such talent is immense. I never tire of seeing such beautiful renderings - thank you for sharing!

I did another Atlantic salmon sketch, I am about done with it will probably work some more on the background and fine tune some stuff on this fish. It turned out pretty good or at least I am happy with it. It was fun to do some colored pencil stuff again after doing more oil paintings.
