A new framing

Post by gt05254 »

They say go big or go home....so I went big (for me). Frame is about 25X26 inches, backyard cherry frame. Image is a repro of a Pleissner image, The Deep Pool, on canvas. Flies are mine; digging those featherwings (that is a poor man's T & L, for sure, but its mine, lol).

OUTSTANDING work ... thank you for sharing it! I really love the little clear plastic stand-offs the flies are mounted to!!

Thanks! I've just started using that mounting method. I use 1/8" acrylic rod and drill a 1/16" hole to accept the fly. Superglue keeps things together quite strongly. As Royce Stearns noted when I posted the first framing where I used this method, it might not be appropriate for antique or hand-made hooks, as it would hide details. But since I tie on run-of-the-mill hooks, it's all good.

Thank you, gentlemen. This one is big enough that I won't want to ship it to Canada as a donation to either the Miramichi Salmon Assoc. or the Atlantic Salmon Museum; it will have to wait until I can deliver it to a fundraising event up there personally, hopefully next year, when certain things are behind us.
