Shadow boxes
#1I've displayed most of my shadow boxes on, for example, Facebook. I recognize that there are probably not a heck of a lot of facebookers on the Classic Fly Rod Forum, so I put together a little retrospective of what I've built to date, which some of you may enjoy, on my blog:

#3Gary, not only are you exceptionally talented at this craft of mounting and framing, but most generous as well. I noticed that most of your outstanding art works went towards fundraising auctions - wonderful contributions!

#4Thanks, guys. From the bottom of my heart, I feel it is of paramount importance to help all I can to conserve wild salmon, and I'm pleased to help preserve the history of the sport at the Atlantic Salmon Museum. We can all help in some way, I'm sure....sometimes it just takes a little time to figure out how.

#9Wow, great stuff!
I spent most of my money on shotguns, fly rods, guitars and banjos. The rest I just wasted. (Apologies to W.C. Fields)

#12I have to agree your woodworking is very nice. How do you cut the card board mats for your displays?
Re: Shadow boxes
#13Beautiful work! thanks for sharing the step by step.
Did you do the matting too?

Re: Shadow boxes
#14Yes, I mill the frames from rough stock, and cut all the mats myself, using a Logan mat cutter that cuts up to 40" mats. To date, except for a framing finished the other day for a fellow, all the flies are mine as well. Glad you enjoy the framings.
