That looks a lot like a tiger trout. . I wasn’t aware that there were any naturally occurring in the wild, I mistakenly thought they were all bred as hybrids in hatcheries. They’re fun fish, neat you caught one out of the Delaware ( if it is indeed a tiger, I can’t tell for absolute certain in this photo).

FYI - Tiger Trout are now in Arkansas as of 2020.

Yes, that unexpected fish is indeed a tiger trout, 23 inches of tiger trout that fought like it. Surprised the heck out of me. I have since learned of another tiger or two being caught in the Delaware, also good fish of 16" to 18".

Brian, just curious the Ozark bass you have pictured looks like a Smallmouth to me. The Ozarks black bass also appears to be a Spotted bass. Are these fish indeed classified differently or maybe these are just local names for the fish? Looks like the fishing is good in southern Missouri!
