The day before Halloween 2021

This river will show you very large trout, mostly rainbows and even larger browns.
On this day, just between chute 2-3 in the flat water near the bank, I saw several well past 10lbs.
Jaw droppers. Floating this water in a boat really lets you get up close to these fish.

A pontoon boat can allow better access to these upper waters on Lake Taneycomo.
Use the pontoon as a way to get around quick... you cover more ground with less walking.

The fall views are lovely here in the Ozark Mountains.

Must add to title - pontoon repair :

Positive I nailed a rock about two hours earlier - but the boat didn't rip apart until I was loading it... thank goodness.
I skated huge dries all over the river today and rose but only a few and never hooked up once.
This boat gets a lots of use.. so I am fixing it ASAP.
Really stinky glues work best.

These smaller diameter tubes make this a boat just to go from one side to other... above is 20inch around / these are 16.
If the horn blows meaning they will bring the units online soon - I calmly paddle to the side my car is on.
Well before any water is coming or any danger is really present.
It's the days they do not blow the horn... ugh!

I mention above about casting the 1st of every month at Trophy Run.
The whole place sold and is now being developed by new.
A secluded little fun spot will soon be gone forever.
That is progress.

Just needs to wait about 100 more years now...

This floated around me yesterday for a few minutes... not sure what kind of sea monster this is.

Image

Any ideas what this could be ? It was in Lake Taneycomo below the dam. One unit running very light.

Image

EDIT - update - I was told it's a Koi fish - and a very old one. Thanks Chuck!

20 pounds or more... and those bulging eyes...

Brian, when I first saw that picture, I thought Koi, but then thought "No way!" Glad someone else confirmed my belief.

Beautiful photos. October is my favorite time in the Ozarks, and it's too bad about the "progress". Progress never seems to be an improvement when it comes to our fishing waters.
