Many years ago, a 23 1/2" small stream brown on a 7' 5wt locally made rod, a 7x tippet, and a size 10 Pass Lake wet fly. I was fishing little black ants in late summer when I came across this fish eating some big beetles that we called "turtle flies" because of their flat shape and olive/brown color. The flies were the size of a quarter. I was too lazy to change my tippet, but at least it was a new one. I tied on the big Pass lake and had the fish on the first cast. Took a while to bring him in, but the tackle held up fine.

Caught on a Size 14 CrackleBack Dry Fly - https://flysandguides.com/fly-tying/how ... ackleback/

Whopee - CFO screwback spindle wobbled loose and spool fell off into river!

Landed and released - No CFO parts left behind - Will never happen again.

Don,t know if it was the biggest but was a nice fish, was long cast out in difficult spot mid stream and was pleasantly surprised when fish took my fly, only sad part was it was an exceptional ugly fly , a foam hopper thing . Was on a 5 wt likely Japanese rod and think a CFO IV.Fish had shoulders and was feeding unconcerned in middle of day, likely more luck than skill but still caught it.

Sometimes, it's better to be lucky than skilled. You made a good cast to the right spot and skillfully put that beauty in front of the camera. Most of us would be jazzed about that no doubt!

Just measured that rod and its 17.5 inches from stripper to guide above ferrule so was a decent fish, can still see whole thing in my mind yet but will forget where my glasses or keys are in a few minutes. Heres another from same river few miles lower and closer to Fernie, was Thanks giving day long weekend end of October up here and cold day. Rod is a Zietak Quad 8 ft 5 wt fly was a hairs ear reel one of my favourites a ST George style Dingley, this fish may be a little larger but never measured it so?. Made my day anyway.

In 2018, I had a June night where I caught a 23” and a 26” brown trout during the brown drake hatch on a #10 comparadun using my Bob Summers 856 8’ 5 wt rod. I have rarely photographed fish and have no pictures of that momentous evening. But I have a great memory that I won’t forget.

Nice brown Morten! :) Dry fly? And the rod you used is..?
This is a trout(Salmo Marmoratus) I caught in the river Idrijca a year ago using my 7'2''#6 rod, sinking line and a streamer.. Not the biggest I ever caught but it was around 60cm, nice fish :)

Thanks a lot to both of you. The rod I used, is a 8´5wt Faar and Very Fine, From the Danish rod maker, Jens Ryhl. The fish was caught late afternoon, during a Danica hatch. That Marble trout is fantastic!

Not a picture taker, but a 19" brown on a 6' 3 wt 1 piece Green River, on the Fall River in Greenfield Mass. It was sitting in about 8 inches of water slurping bugs on the surface, the lat week of October 2020. WAHOO! Cheers,Chet

Here's a beauty for ya! After tail walking across the pool she took me into the backing before succumbing to the backbone of my cane rod as I checked her flight with the butt. What a fight it was! :)
