Can you provide us more details to this check ? note the little blade spring holding the ball for positioning of the tension knob

I still do not follow the spring holding the ball... maybe that's pawl...
I marked the blade spring.. Underneath it there's a small rod with a round tip that will position the tension knob that has five small holes at the bottom.
Unfortunately I can't show you since I got talked into selling the reel. So its not in my posession anymore. Image

Very close to Godfreys classic reel. Lovely.

I liked the inscribed diamond / square with the in-curving sides on the logo. Nice touch.

You have created fine jewellery that also has a function - beautiful!

I note most vintage bench made reels use slot head screws.
Did you choose slot head because of the appearance?
Would an Allen head screw be easier to work with and less subject to screwdriver damage?
I've always wondered?

As you say slot head screws have a more classic look. Allen screws or torx are better and less likely to get damaged...
You really need to pay attention when using slot head screws and its important to use the correct size screwdriver.
But I think it would look wrong with anything but slot head screws on a reel like this.
Thanks for the positive comments!
Really appreciated!
