#41This is a most drool-inducing thread, thanks much for sharing.
I'm afraid my post will bring the level down a notch, but here are three 3-1/2" J.W. Young reels. The two used reels were a gift from a very kind gentleman in the U.K., the mint 1820 with box and paperwork I lucked into back in 2011 on Ebay for the princely sum of GBP15.
Keep safe,
Kenneth

#43It's hard to keep up with you guys! Here are a paltry few, all Hardy. I forgot to include the vinyl zip case, red and cream for the Flyweight and grey pokey bags for the Ultralite Disc and the JLH Ultralite. We've all seen those, right?
This one is my favorite, came with a little round circular in addition to the standard paperwork. Inside the circular was a Hardy window sticker, the only one I've seen. I would stick it on the Jag, but it's in the shop again.

#46Hardy Centenary fly reel in the smallest size 3/4, made in 100 numbered in 1992 to celebrate the Hardy no. 1 shop in Pall Mall 61 London had existed in 100 years ( sadly now history, the shop closed just around the year 2004 ). Three sizes the reel came in 3/4, a size of it own ( cage was a Hardy Lightweight in a size between a Hardy Flyweight and a Hardy Featherweight ) the spool came from a Hardy Marquis 4. Size 6/7 a mix with the cage from a Hardy Princess Lightweight the spool from a Hardy Marquis 6. And the biggest 10/11 with the cage from a Hardy Lightweight St. Andrew and the spool from a Hardy Marquis Salmon 2. All fly reels came in a special almost black color, brass detail and golden decorations. The reels came in a special seevyt bag and in for the time traditional blue and white paperboy. Enjoy ! // Steen

#48Here's a Pflueger 1492 I used to have from 1953, still in the cellophane.

Is this one from that memorable Steenburgh fall auction in the White Mountains? Too bad you couldn't have gotten them all that day. I remember it well. Somewhere I have a photo of the whole group of reels from that event.
'Reverse collecting' is not unheard of among the ORCA and NFLCC guys, especially for pre-1900 items. I picked up an excellent burgundy chimney box for a Sterling(HA Whittemore) reel for peanuts , but the price I paid for the reel to fill it made up for what was formerly a bargain.

#53Jeff, this one came from that auction that was from The Enchanted Area near Lancaster, NH. This was the summer home of the McIlvain family from Philadelphia, PA. I should of bid more to get the first lot, took the next 2 and had no interest in the 4th one. Their was some nice early fishing lots in that auction as well as many other nice lots that went to auction.jeffkn1 wrote: ↑07/21/20 06:32Richie

#56Like a russian doll this box emerge. Hardy Wide Spool Perfect 1902 replica from 2002. 250 in all in three sizes were made. The first 200 came in a special made box for the set of three, the last 50 in each size were sold seperatly in a leather-box, packed in a paper-box. Enjoy ! // Steen. Ps. I have cheated a little, the box for three with the original booklet and key says no. 150. I bought it without the reels, the reels in the box is from the last stock of 50 each size sold seperatly ( mine no. 206, 202 and no. 203 ). I can live with that, nice to have the reels and the presentation-box.
